Cookie Policy

To make a website work properly and improve browsing experience, certain tools sometimes place small data files called cookies on your device.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the website. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the website or browse from one page to another.

How are cookies being used here?

This site uses a few third-party applications/plugins which in turn use cookies for operating their tools. They are:

  • Google Analytics: This is used for anonymously tracking what part of the site visitors are interacting with and analyzing traffic. It is recommended to check their privacy policy for more details.
You can opt-out of having made your activity available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

  • Disqus Comments: This is used on selected pages for allowing visitors to post comments. It is recommended to check their privacy policy for more details.

  • Cloudflare: This service is used for security and as a firewall for this site. It uses cookies to identify individual clients behind a shared IP address and apply security settings on a per-client basis. For example, if a visitor is in a coffee shop where there may be several infected machines, but the specific visitor's machine is trusted (for example, because they completed a captcha challenge), the cookie allows Cloudflare to identify that client and not challenge them again. It does not store any personally identifiable information.

  • Cookie Consent Insites: This is used for showing the cookie prompt when a visitor visits this site. It uses cookies to remember if you acknowledged the prompt regarding consent on use of cookies.

Since these cookies are strictly necessary for operating this site, these cannot be disabled.

If you do not wish to have cookies stored on your machine, you have the option to turn cookies off in your browser. However, keep in mind that turning off cookies may impact how this website functions. Disabling browser cookies will also impact how other websites you visit store browser cookies as well.
Certain browsers also have a private / incognito window mode which deletes the cookies placed by any site as soon as you close the window.
